Well, this was not my idea to develop something like that, but I found someone selling a script at Digitalpoint forums, but with less capabilities. It was genuinely a good idea, so I polished that idea and made a script for my own usage with more features.

Yahoo Answers basically allows you to post those questions & answers on your website but with a tag like “Powered by Yahoo Answers“. So that’s the only requirement to use this script. I read their API and developed something like this with features

1. Integration of my script with phpBB Forum software.
2. Script works with cron job, that means it automatically does everything without doing anything manually.
3. IT automatically look for the new topic posted and answers
4. You can specify the categories form where it will fetch those questions
5. Separate each section with different forum IDs (phpBB)
6. It opnly registers 1 new user and then picks randomly other (Yahoo) users from the database to answer those questions, this makes it look many users with more than 100-200 posts, not just 1 single post each time.
7. It automatically increases pageviews of that specific thread to make it look natural.
8. Admin can adjust the “signatures” to advertise your own website in those questions / answers.
9. User avatar is adjusted automatically on registeration picking one randomly from the avatars gallery.
10.  It adds the replying users to “Online Users” list, that makes it look like a more active forum.
11. It does not effect your exisitng community as it makes it look like more active
12. Staff member can separate those Yahoo threads and original threads posted by original users of your forum
13. STaff can see only the original threads in “New Posts”..

I developed this back in late 2007. But it is still working, I designed a custom forum for this test and its still adding loads of data there, you can take a look at this script live here

It was fun developing this scrip for testing Yahoo API at the same time. I think i achieved  what I wanted, but I am not using it on any of my websites. I am also planning to provide this for FREE on my blog.
